This is where Showa originates from

Within Showa Precision Tools there is a Professionnal Team in charge of our technology and product quality. This is the "TEAM ExxP".
It is composed of our most experienced specialists in our manufacturing departement and they are in charge of the following duties:

  • - Educator for the new trainees
  • - Expert of our most advanced technologies
  • - Express-responder in charge of rushed projects which would be of excessive load for the technicians
  • - Planner who schedules the production the most efficiently

Die manufacturing

Dies for Precision Press
We provide you with our know-how, and together we build always evolving dies.

In the automotive parts field, we can design and manufacture dies for powertrain parts and critical security parts. In recent years, we have been focusing on the design and manufacturing of dies for power transmission components for electrification, lithium-ion battery electrode foils and lamination that serve as power sources and auxiliary power sources.
Besides, our die technology for aluminum disks also accompanies the hard drives disks capacity increase.

Container Press Dies
Dies for Aluminum Cans Forming

We design and manufacture cupping dies for forming the body of aluminum cans, shell end tab dies for forming the lid where the drinking mouth is found, and re-sealable bottle can forming parts. We also provide annual overhaul maintenance and services for dies.

Automation Devices

Production Systems
For our clients in the fields of automotive parts, next-generation batteries, and films, we provide special equipement using our precision shear technology.

Since the '80s when we made equipment for electric contacts, we have been providing production equipment for friction material used on automatic transmission clutches, for special films used in the production process of printed boards, or for lithium-ion batteries used in electric cars.

We can design and manufacture production systems for the can making industry, such as conversion systems for lids (3 or 4 lanes), shell systems, or body forming cupping systems.

Precision Tools, Prototype Parts

Precision Tools
We design and manufacture precision tools. We can provide such services from our clients' own designs including low volume order.

We can also machine intricately shaped-high precision tools with our 5-axis processing machines.

Prototypes
Feel free to ask us about the machining of various materials.

We can work with aluminum, difficult-to-cut materials (inconel, titanium), or other special materials, quenched materials etc.

INDUSTRIES

Automotive Parts

Showa has a high precision cutting and forming technology for many AT, MT or DCT powertrain parts such as clutches, torque converters and vibration dampers, but also parts used within the engine such as silent chains and sprokets, as well as safety related parts used in seat recliners.

Food Containers

Besides aluminum can producing systems, Showa also designs and manufactures production systems for aerosol container tops. We will provide you with the engineering services required on delivery as well as an after-follow services, wherever your production is based.

Information Technology

With dies manufactured and assembled with a punch/die clearance of 2µm, Showa can achieve clean cuts on difficult-to-cut films or metal foils. We also have been making dies which achieve a burr-free blanking for hard-drive disks aluminum boards.

Lithium-ion Batteries

Thanks to our high-precision die technology, we can provide customized solutions that would answer your need in either test dies or mass production dies for tab-cutting and profile trimming of secondary battery and capacitor electrode foils.

Aerospace

Showa provides machining services to the aerospace industry on titanium, inconel and other special materials with 5 axis processing machines and compound working machine.

Technical meeting with the customer
Discussion between the customer and our technician/ technical sales person to determine the customers' requirements

Drawing of the die concept
Revision of the die concept drawing to reflect the customers requests
STEP3
First approval from the customer
Check that the requests are fulfilled
STEP4
Die full drawing and customer approval
After completion of die full drawing, final check of the die structure with the customer
STEP5
Die parts manufacturing
The die parts are made in our temperature and humidity controlled factory environment with high precision machine tools and highly skilled technicians.

Parts measurement
We check with high precision inspection devices that each individual part is conform with the drawings
STEP7
Assembly and adjustments
The relative position of the die parts is adjusted within a 1 to 2µm tolerance on a surface plate
STEP8
Trials
The die is tried in near-continuous production conditions with our 400t high rigidity press or our 800t fineblanking press in order to check and solve any problem.
STEP9
Shipment
The tool is shipped to the customer by a carrier accustomed to such products.
STEP10
Proposal of solution through our sales activity
Through regular visits, we maintain a continuous relationship with our customers so as to be able to recognize any difficulty to which we answer by making proposals to improve any die already delivered.

High-Spec Equipment Enabling Very High Precision Machining

High-spec machines can only deliver their full capacity in the hands of high-level technicians. Both local and imported, these machines are always kept in a controlled environment permanently at 22±1℃and go through a regular maintenance process in order to maintain their high precision performance.

For high precision or high difficulty dies, many trial & errors are inevitable. Recently by introducing flow analysis in the design process it is possible to reduce such trial & errors, and complete dies within a shorter time and with lower costs.
